Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission explores Greece for new pilgrimage routes

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has initiated efforts to expand international pilgrimage destinations for Nigerian Christians by exploring historic and holy sites in Greece.

As part of this initiative, NCPC Executive Secretary Bishop Stephen Adegbite conducted an exploration visit to Hydra Island. During the visit, Adegbite met with local pilgrimage stakeholders and Hydra Mayor George Koukoudakis to discuss bilateral cooperation and the logistical frameworks necessary to facilitate future visits.

The commission stated that the move aligns with its mandate under the NCPC Act 2007 to identify sacred sites worldwide. The initiative aims to diversify pilgrimage routes, deepen spiritual experiences, and promote faith-based tourism by leveraging Greece’s early Christian heritage and historical landmarks.
