Nigerian Defence Academy initiates legal action over viral video

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has initiated legal proceedings following the circulation of a viral video on social media. The video, released by Ruth Ogunleye, contains allegations against the NDA Commandant, Maj. Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, regarding a dispute involving staff member Abubakar Isah. The academy characterized the claims as unverified and an attempt to damage the reputation of the institution and its personnel, noting that the underlying disagreement relates to an alleged social media infringement.

Separately, Maj. Gen. Maxwell Dangana, GOC 3 Division, recently commended NDA cadets during a ‘Battle Inoculation’ exercise in Kachia. The exercise was designed to develop tactical judgment, courage under fire, and discipline. Dangana emphasized the importance of professional competence and character in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges, including terrorism, insurgency, and banditry.
