Nigerian Stock Market Surpasses N159 Trillion as NGX Index Rises

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) market capitalization topped N159 trillion on Tuesday, driven by a continued rally in equities. The NGX All‑Share Index gained 0.19% to close at 246,659 points, lifting the year‑to‑date return to about 58.5%. Trading volume rose 9.5% to roughly 932 million shares, while total transaction value was about N49.3 billion.

Strong buying interest lifted several stocks, with Custodian Investment and NEM Insurance each up around 10%, BUA Cement up nearly 10%, and First HoldCo rising about 10% as well. ACCESSCORP emerged as the most actively traded security, accounting for over N8.6 billion in value. Top gainers included UPDCREIT (+9.86%), THOMASWY (+9.74%) and IKEJAHOTEL (+9.53%). Analysts noted the momentum could persist but warned that intermittent profit‑taking might temper further gains.
