Nigerian football figures address NFF leadership and player union divisions
Former Super Eagles defender Ben Iroha has ruled out a bid for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Despite ongoing discussions regarding reforms in Nigerian football, Iroha stated that he would decline the position even if offered without a contest, noting that there are responsibilities he is unable to manage.
Separately, former international Chikelue Iloenyosi has called for unity among Nigerian players' unions. During a recent assessment mission in Abuja, FIFA and CAF officials reportedly expressed surprise at the divisions between different player groups claiming to represent Nigerian footballers.
Following meetings with FIFA and CAF, representatives for players, coaches, and referees have reportedly reached a common position seeking broader representation and increased voting rights within the NFF Congress, board, and standing committees.
