Nigerian Forces Strike Terrorist Hideouts in Katsina and Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, carried out a precision air strike on 1 May 2026 that destroyed a logistics hub linked to terrorist kingpin Abasu Aiki in the Dan‑Aji Forest of Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State. The strike neutralised several armed militants and ignited explosions that devastated the hideout.

Between 1 May and 3 May 2026, Nigerian troops from the same operation killed nine terrorists, including two senior kingpins, in coordinated actions across Katsina and Zamfara states. In Katsina, a patrol on the Turare–Yantumaki Road engaged four militants, seizing rifles, motorcycles, phones and ₦153,000 in cash. In Zamfara’s Anka area, forces eliminated five terrorists, recovered weapons and vehicles, and repelled a counter‑attack on the Bagega base, with air‑strike support. One soldier was killed during the operations. The missions are reported to have disrupted planned attacks on local communities and reinforced security presence in the north‑west region.
