Nigerian groups urge unity against insecurity and praise local security efforts

Various civil society groups and community leaders in Nigeria are calling for national unity to combat insecurity and praising private security interventions in the Niger Delta.

In Bayelsa State, the Coalition of Niger Delta Youth Stakeholders and other organizations commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its role in reducing violence and criminality. These groups noted that the company has provided livelihoods for thousands of youths through pipeline surveillance, helping to mitigate issues such as oil theft, illegal bunkering, and cultism that previously caused instability in the region.

Separately, a coalition of civil society organizations in Abuja urged Nigerians to support the nation's security agencies in the fight against terrorism and banditry. The coalition's Director of Programmes, Johnson Michael, called for an end to the politicization of security challenges, commending President Bola Tinubu and the military leadership for efforts to strengthen the national security architecture.
