Nigerian Navy commissions community projects in Bayelsa and Kogi

The Nigerian Navy has completed and commissioned several community development projects across Bayelsa and Kogi states through the Chief of Naval Staff’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Project scheme.

In Bayelsa State, the Navy rehabilitated and constructed facilities at Group School 1 in Igbainwari, located in the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area. The project includes an eight-classroom block, a library, a headmaster’s office, teachers’ quarters, and electrification. To address water supply and flooding issues, the intervention also provided a solar-powered industrial borehole and a drainage system.

In Kogi State, the Navy commissioned a maternity and neonatal healthcare facility in the Ega Ward of the Idah Local Government Area. This facility features a dedicated maternity and neonatal block, a solar power system, and a borehole.

These initiatives are part of the Navy’s civil-military cooperation strategy, intended to strengthen relationships between security forces and the communities they protect by addressing local needs in education and healthcare.
