Nigerian Navy community development projects

The Nigerian Navy has implemented various community development projects through the Chief of Naval Staff’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Project scheme.

In Katsina State, the Navy inaugurated projects in Kerau Quarters, including an 80,000-litre solar-powered industrial borehole, solar-powered streetlights, and the renovation of a community school. This initiative was accompanied by a medical outreach providing free consultations and treatment.

Following this, the Navy expanded its interventions to Bayelsa and Kogi states. In Bayelsa, the Navy rehabilitated and constructed facilities at Group School 1 in Igbainwari, consisting of an eight-classroom block, a library, a headmaster’s office, teachers’ quarters, electrification, a solar-powered borehole, and a drainage system. In Kogi State, the Navy commissioned a maternity and neonatal healthcare facility in the Ega Ward of Idah Local Government Area, which includes a dedicated medical block, solar power, and a borehole.

These projects are part of a civil-military cooperation strategy intended to strengthen relationships between security forces and local communities by addressing needs in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
