Nigerian Navy dismantles illegal refinery and rescues kidnap victims

The Nigerian Navy has conducted two separate operations targeting maritime crime in the Niger Delta region. In Rivers State, naval forces dismantled an illegal oil refining site in the Promise Land Community of the Bonny Local Government Area. The operation, led by the Forward Operating Base (FOB) BONNY, resulted in the destruction of three large storage tanks and a large cooking pot used for processing stolen crude oil.

In a separate operation in Akwa Ibom State, the Nigerian Navy Ship JUBILEE Maritime Quick Response Team rescued two kidnap victims in the Ibeno area. The rescue occurred during an intervention against sea robbers who had been targeting fishermen. During the pursuit, suspects fled into adjoining creeks, abandoning a boat that contained the victims and several stolen outboard engines. The Navy continues to increase surveillance and monitoring to combat oil theft and maritime insecurity.
