Nigerian Navy inaugurates solar-powered water project in Gombe

The Nigerian Navy has inaugurated a solar-powered water supply project at the Cottage Hospital in the Pindiga community, located in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State. The project includes a five-horsepower solar-powered borehole, overhead storage tanks, and toilets.

Executed under the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, through the Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects initiative, the installation aims to address long-standing water shortages in the area. Due to difficult geological conditions, the water is sourced from a location approximately one kilometer away from Pindiga.

Officials stated that the initiative is intended to strengthen civil-military cooperation and improve the socio-economic well-being of the community. Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya and local leaders noted that the provision of potable water is critical for the health of both patients and medical personnel at the hospital.
