Nigerian Navy recovers 132,000 litres of suspected stolen crude in Rivers
The Nigerian Navy has uncovered approximately 132,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in the Allison community of the Bonny Local Government Area in Rivers State. The discovery was made on October 22 by personnel from Forward Operating Base BONNY during Operation DELTA SENTINEL.
During the operation, which was conducted following actionable intelligence, security forces uncovered 10 dugout pits used for storage. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, stated that the operation disrupted a potential storage point within an illicit petroleum supply chain.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling illegal refining infrastructure and disrupting networks facilitating crude oil theft across the Niger Delta. Officials have urged community leaders and residents to report suspicious petroleum storage or the unauthorized movement of petroleum products to assist in safeguarding national assets.
