Nigerian Navy Seizes 105,000 Litres of Suspected Stolen Crude in Delta State

The Nigerian Navy, under Operation Delta Sentinel, recovered about 105,000 litres of crude oil it said were stolen from pipelines in Delta State’s Oteghele axis. The seizure was made in two locations, roughly 60,000 litres at one site and 45,000 litres at another, after naval personnel uncovered concealed storage facilities used by suspected oil thieves.

Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt crude‑oil theft networks, protect critical oil and gas assets and prevent economic losses to the nation. He added that the action demonstrates the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime environment and oil revenue.

The operation highlights the persistence of illegal bunkering and crude‑oil theft in the Niger Delta, a region that contributes the bulk of Nigeria’s oil production and government revenue.
