Nigerian Navy seizes nearly 23,000 L of illegal diesel in Rivers State
The Nigerian Navy, under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, intercepted a wooden boat carrying 36 sacks of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO) in the Orashi Forest area of Okolomade community, Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Rivers State. The patrol, led by Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, used drone surveillance to locate additional hidden stockpiles, eventually recovering a total of 81 sacks—about 22,870 litres—of illicit fuel.
The seized boat and fuel were handled according to anti‑crude‑oil‑theft procedures, disrupting the logistics network that supports illegal refining in the Niger Delta. The navy affirmed its commitment to intelligence‑driven operations aimed at dismantling oil‑theft networks and protecting Nigeria’s strategic economic assets.
