Nigeria's Northwest Faces Wave of Bandit Attacks, Police Recover Weapons and Rescue Hostages

Police and military forces in Nigeria's north‑west have repelled several armed bandit raids. In Katsina State, a joint team of the Katsina State Police Command and the Community Watch Corps engaged attackers in Sabon Gulbi village, killing one bandit and seizing an AK‑47, ammunition and a motorcycle.

In Zamfara State, bandits overran a military outpost in the Kasuwar Daji community, killing several soldiers and abducting more than 70 residents. Security forces later rescued a handful of hostages and recovered weapons, while the incident prompted calls for urgent government intervention.

Separately, Sokoto State police stopped a bandit raid on Anada village, recovering 43 stolen sheep without any casualties among officers or civilians. The operations illustrate coordinated responses by state police commands, community watch groups and the Nigerian Army against a surge of bandit violence in the region.
