Nigerian police seize stolen valuables and bust illegal firearms syndicate in Ekiti and Akwa Ibom
Police in Ekiti State responded to a distress call about an armed robbery at the Elemi Housing Estate in Ado‑Ekiti. Officers engaged the suspects, recovering more than ₦3.6 million worth of mobile phones, laptops, watches and jewellery and injuring one suspect who was taken to a hospital under police guard. The operation also uncovered a locally made barrel gun linked to the robbery.
In Akwa Ibom State, the police command conducted an intelligence‑driven raid that dismantled an illegal firearms‑fabrication network. Three suspects – Miracle Udo, Edet Okon and Kufre Stephen – were arrested, and a locally fabricated double‑barrel cartridge gun as well as tools and materials for weapon production were seized. Investigations continue to identify additional participants in the illicit arms operation.
