Nigerian security forces rescue kidnap victims in Katsina and Sokoto

Security forces in Nigeria have conducted successful operations to rescue abducted individuals and repel terrorist attacks in Katsina and Sokoto states.

In Katsina State, troops from Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued five women, including a mother and infant, and several minors from the Madaci Forest area in Sabuwa Local Government Area. Additionally, in Bakori Local Government Area, the Department of State Services (DSS) and local vigilantes foiled an abduction attempt in Unguwan Hudu village. During this operation, security forces intercepted bandits who abandoned 18 kidnap victims—comprising 14 females and four males, including children—after discovering their route was blocked. One 14-year-old victim sustained a gunshot injury during the incident.

In Sokoto State, the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion repelled a terrorist attack in Badiya Village, Shagari Local Government Area. The engagement forced hostile elements to retreat, allowing troops to recover a large herd of rustled livestock that was subsequently returned to its owners.
