Nigerian security forces seize large quantities of stolen petroleum
Security agencies in Nigeria have conducted several operations targeting petroleum theft and illicit drug trafficking. In Lagos State, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) dismantled a pipeline vandalism syndicate in the Baruwa community of Alimosho. During the operation, two suspects were arrested and a truck containing 60,000 litres of petrol was seized. The NSCDC reported that the suspects attempted to flee and attacked operatives, but were eventually apprehended.
In Delta State, the Nigerian Navy recovered approximately 80,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil through two separate operations in the Oteghele and Obodo Amadino areas. Additionally, a joint operation between the Navy and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the Warri area led to the arrest of three suspected drug traffickers. Authorities seized 15 kilograms of cannabis, 0.5 grams of cocaine, and 0.5 grams of methamphetamine during the raid.
