Nigerian troops rescue 21 kidnap victims in Katsina and Zamfara

Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma have conducted multiple successful operations to rescue kidnap victims and foil abductions across Katsina and Zamfara states in North-West Nigeria.

In Katsina State, soldiers engaged terrorists near Madaci Forest in the Sabuwa Local Government Area. The clash forced the armed group to abandon 14 hostages—six men and eight women—who had reportedly been taken from the Dandume, Bakori, and Funtua areas. The victims were handed over to local authorities for reunification with their families.

In Zamfara State, the Joint Task Force North West responded to separate incidents in the Gurusu and Tsafe areas. In one instance, troops pursued terrorists along the Gurusu–Anka Road, rescuing seven victims, including four women and three children. In another incident near Magazu village, troops engaged attackers attempting to abduct motorists; some victims sustained gunshot wounds and required medical treatment.

Additionally, troops in Bukkuyum Local Government Area discovered and neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the Gurusu–Gwashi Road, preventing potential casualties for both military personnel and civilians.
