Kano security forces rescue kidnap victim and recover ₦10m ransom

Nigerian security forces and local hunters successfully rescued a kidnapped man and recovered ₦10 million in ransom during an operation in the Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The victim, identified as Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu, was abducted on October 11, 2026, while returning from a market in Kaduna State. Following the abduction, his family reportedly paid a ₦10 million ransom to secure his release.

Acting on intelligence, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 3 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local hunters known as Yan Bula, set an ambush near the ransom exchange point. During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were killed, and a third suspect escaped with injuries. The recovered ransom money was subsequently returned to Aliyu and his family.

Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, Commander of the 3 Brigade, commended the professionalism of the troops and the local hunters for their role in the operation. Security agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to combating banditry and kidnapping in the region.
