Nigeria's NNPC signs six gas agreements at NOG Energy Week
At the 25th Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week in Abuja, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd, led by GCEO Engr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari, signed six strategic gas‑related agreements. The deals include a memorandum of understanding and a 20‑year Gas Sale and Aggregation Agreement with Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, a 15‑year Wet Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement with UTM FLNG to supply 200 million standard cubic feet per day, and network entry agreements with Chevron Nigeria, AGPC and NNPC Exploration & Production Ltd. Collectively the contracts could inject up to 800 million scf/d of gas into Nigeria’s domestic network, supporting power plants, gas‑based industries and pipeline projects such as the African‑Atlantic Gas Pipeline.
NNPC also highlighted operational milestones: crude oil production rose to 1.71 million barrels per day, gas output reached 7.5 billion scf per day, and export‑terminal recovery averaged 98 percent. The company resumed full monthly remittances to the Federation Account and announced that the new gas agreements represent more than US$20 billion in associated investment.
Government officials, including Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo, emphasized Nigeria’s 215 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves and its readiness to meet growing global energy demand through strategic partnerships and continued reforms under the Petroleum Industry Act.
