Nigeria's FCT Police Rescue Abuja Kidnapping Victims and Recover Ransom
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Abuja rescued four residents who had been abducted from the Yellow House neighbourhood of Mpape after a gun battle with suspects in the Jikoko Hills. One victim, identified only as Mr. Babangida, was killed and another was treated for a gunshot wound. The operation, led by Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh and Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi, concluded early on 10 July when the suspects fled into the Ushafa Forest.
In a related crackdown, the FCT police also dismantled a six‑member "one chance" kidnapping syndicate operating in Abuja and Niger State. The gang had demanded N20 million for a young woman kidnapped in Maitama but released her after receiving N8.25 million. Police recovered the full ransom amount, two vehicles, weapons and other evidence, and arrested all six suspects, including alleged leader Ifeoma Nnamchi, in Suleja on 5 July. The operations highlight a coordinated police effort against kidnapping and armed robbery in the capital region.
