Nigeria federal government delivers N10 bn health equipment to Bauchi state
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, transferred medical equipment and supplies worth about N10 billion to Bauchi state. The delivery, part of the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) programme, was led by Coordinating Minister Prof. Ali Pate and attended by Bauchi Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed. Items included suction machines, oxygen concentrators, blood‑pressure monitors, newborn‑care kits, 17,000 maternity kits, 15 tricycle ambulances and six conventional ambulances, as well as consumables for emergency obstetric and newborn care.
During the same visit Prof. Pate inaugurated a Clinical Trial Centre at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, a facility supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia. UNICEF praised the partnership between the federal and Bauchi state governments, calling the intervention a major step toward reducing maternal and neonatal mortality. The programme is presented as part of President Bola Tinubu’s broader health‑sector reforms across Nigeria, aiming to strengthen primary healthcare, train frontline workers and improve outcomes for women, children and other vulnerable groups.
