Nigerian troops neutralize insurgents, seize weapons and rescue civilians in Kebbi, Yobe and Borno

On 27 June 2026, troops of the Joint Task Force North West’s Operation FANSAN YAMMA ambushed and killed two Lakurawa militants in the Sabarumawa area of Kebbi State, recovering two AK‑47 rifles, magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja said the operation “prevented an planned attack on the Sabarumawa community”.

On 24 June 2026, Operation HADIN KAI forces arrested two suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers in Gujba, Yobe State, seizing two motorcycles, 750 litres of petrol, a mobile phone and ₦49,650 in cash. The same day, a Quick‑Reaction Force dismantled an ISWAP roadblock on the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu, Borno State, rescuing 53 civilians and recovering eight seized vehicles. Captain Mohammed Goni said troops “forced the terrorists to flee in confusion”.

Also on 24 June, a separate HADIN KAI raid in Magumeri, Borno State, detained four alleged drug traffickers and confiscated large quantities of cannabis, tramadol, other substances and assorted equipment. The operations were described as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt insurgent logistics and criminal networks supporting terrorism in Nigeria’s north‑east and north‑west regions.
