Nigeria's Homeland Security Adviser Adeyinka Famadewa Sets Four Strategic Priorities

President Bola Tinubu's special adviser on homeland security, retired Major General Adeyinka Famadewa, convened his first stakeholder meeting at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja. The gathering brought together heads and representatives of key ministries, agencies and security bodies, including the Permanent Secretary of the Special Services Office, the Comptroller‑General of Customs, the Controller‑General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, the CEO of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Director‑General of the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience.

Famade​wa outlined four priority initiatives: a Unified Surveillance Programme to boost nationwide situational awareness; strengthened identity‑management to curb anonymous platforms used for crime; enhanced border security through coordinated technology‑driven, intelligence‑led operations; and improved early‑warning, crisis reporting and rapid response mechanisms. He stressed that these measures aim to build a secure, resilient, technology‑driven homeland security ecosystem, complementing existing security efforts and requiring sustained inter‑agency collaboration and intelligence sharing.
