Nigeria's inaugural indigenous floating LNG project signs gas supply agreement

UTM Offshore, Seplat Energy and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) have signed a gas sales agreement for the UTM FLNG project, Nigeria’s first indigenous‑led floating LNG facility located in the deep‑water Yoho field. The deal clears a major commercial hurdle toward a final investment decision, with the plant expected to produce 176 million cubic feet of gas per day and begin shipments by 2030. It will also supply about 300,000 tons of LPG annually to the domestic market, supporting cleaner cooking fuel. Financing includes debt from Afreximbank and equity from NNPC and the Delta State Government, while JGC Holdings and Technip Energies review the EPCIC contract.

Separately, the NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Seplat Energy joint venture conducted a one‑day workshop in Sapele, Delta State, training vendors of host‑community development trusts on contracting procedures, transparency and procurement governance. The training aimed to strengthen community participation and reduce fraud in local procurement processes.
