Nigeria's INEC Restores Suppressed Delta State Assembly Constituencies

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the process of restoring three previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta State—Isoko North Constituency II, Abraka State Constituency, and Ughelli South Constituency II. The move follows a Supreme Court judgment and earlier restoration of Abraka and Ughelli South constituencies, aiming to comply with court orders and constitutional provisions for equitable representation.

Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren described the restoration as a constitutional obligation that will strengthen representative democracy and give residents stronger voice in the Delta State House of Assembly. ADC candidate Udori O. Charles praised the decision, calling it a victory for democracy and urging the communities to unite and take advantage of the renewed political inclusion.
