Nigeria's Joint Admissions Board names Prof. Segun Aina as new registrar
Prof. Ishaq Oloyede will hand over his role as registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on July 31, 2026. The outgoing registrar will be succeeded by Prof. Segun Aina, a computer‑engineering professor at Obafemi Awolowo University, in a ceremony broadcast live by the board.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Aina, who holds advanced degrees from the United Kingdom and has over 15 years advising government on digital transformation, to become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history. The presidency highlighted his experience with ICT systems and exam integrity, noting his prior consultancy for the National Examinations Council and other examination bodies.
During his tenure, Oloyede was praised for strong public‑relations work and for significantly increasing JAMB’s remittances to the federal treasury, contributing billions of naira compared with the modest sums sent in earlier decades. His successor is expected to continue reforms and strengthen the board’s operations.
