Nigeria's NAHCON launches review of 2026 Hajj, invites pilgrim complaints

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has begun a comprehensive review of the 2026 Hajj and Umrah operations. Pilgrims and other stakeholders are asked to submit complaints, observations and suggestions by 31 July 2026 to help identify shortcomings, improve future pilgrimages and inform the renewal of licences for tour operators, State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, airlines, cargo firms, caterers and accommodation providers. Submissions can be sent to NAHCON’s headquarters in Abuja or via its official email addresses.

Earlier, NAHCON introduced a new licensing framework that imposes quarterly operational reports, detailed accommodation information for Makkah and Madinah, emergency contact systems, orientation programmes, qualified scholars for pilgrim education, and regular inspections. The regulations also define warnings, fines, suspension or revocation of licences for violations, aiming to protect Nigerian pilgrims from past hardships such as missing accommodation, abandoned travellers and financial exploitation.
