Nigeria's NASENI launches skills programme and digital asset‑declaration partnership

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) inaugurated a Community Empowerment and Skills Development Programme in Kano, flagging it off with Vice President Kashim Shettima. The first phase will train over 160 youths and women across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones in sectors such as solar installation, mobile‑phone repair, electrical appliance servicing, welding, food processing and entrepreneurship, with a particular emphasis on women’s participation.

In a separate move, NASENI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in Abuja. The agreement aims to digitise the asset‑declaration system for public officers, a process that currently handles records for more than five million civil servants. Executives, including NASENI CEO Engr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the partnership will deliver indigenous technological solutions to improve transparency, efficiency and long‑term record‑keeping for Nigeria’s anti‑corruption framework.
