Nigeria's National Sports Commission awaits FIFA decision on football reforms

Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), has expressed optimism regarding the future of Nigerian football as the country awaits a final decision from FIFA concerning reforms within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Olopade urged stakeholders to remain patient, stating that the next steps have been established by both the governing body and football stakeholders following recent consultations.

In a separate administrative move aimed at strengthening sports operations, the NSC has reshuffled the General Secretaries of several national sports federations. Olopade clarified that these changes are not dismissals but strategic reassignments intended to align with the government’s sports development agenda.

Key appointments include Bunmi Oluode as Secretary General of the Athletics Federation and Tosin Samuel as Secretary General of the Shooting Federation. Other changes involve the Basketball, Rowing, and Karate federations, as the NSC seeks to optimize the professional expertise of its administrative staff.
