Nigeria's NDLEA and Police Conduct Nationwide Drug Bust, Arrest Over 20 Suspects

Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) carried out coordinated operations across several states, seizing large consignments of opioids hidden in building materials and arresting dozens of suspects. Notable arrests included 75‑year‑old Okebe Samuel in Ebonyi State with 300 g of skunk, a 22‑year‑old in Taraba State after a truck was searched in Jalingo, and dozens of traffickers in Edo, Kano, Gombe and other states, yielding thousands of capsules of tramadol, pentazocine, rohypnol, codeine cough syrup and kilograms of skunk, loud and methamphetamine.

Separately, the Delta State Police Command’s Anti‑Vice Squad raided a drug distribution point in Ika North‑East LGA, arresting two suspects, Henry Edward and Okwudili Kingsley, and recovering five gallons of fermented cannabis mixture known as “Monkey Tail” along with other illicit substances. Both agencies said the operations were based on intelligence and are part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
