Nigeria's NDLEA Generates N6.15 bn from Asset Auction and Expands Drug‑Destruction Efforts

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of Nigeria auctioned five seized properties in Abuja, raising N6,153,264,000. The sold assets included a six‑storey hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, and other sites in Lagos and Ondo states. Winning bidders were Tope Ojo and Tunde Olonishakin Estate Firm for the hotel (N5.9 bn), FSS Limited for a Lekki Phase 1 property (N219.5 m), A‑BNB Global Innovations Limited for flats in Ejigbo (N104 m), Fazeen Global Link Limited for a property in Akure (N29.36 m), and Tresmo Nigeria Limited for a Lagos Ijesha/Itire site (N4.3 m). NDLEA Chairman Brig‑Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa highlighted the auction’s role in depriving criminal networks of illicit proceeds and reinforcing public confidence in the rule of law.

Separately, Senator Joseph Ikpea praised the NDLEA’s recent public destruction of large quantities of seized narcotics in Benin City, Edo State. The senator described the exercise as a strong deterrent to traffickers and a reaffirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to tackling drug abuse, which threatens public health and security. NDLEA leadership affirmed the agency’s ongoing focus on drug interception, asset recovery, and community awareness.
