Nigeria's NDLEA intercepts cocaine shipments bound for China and Italy
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized two consignments of cocaine hidden in a mortar and a backpack that were to be exported from Lagos to China and Italy, respectively. The haul included 250 g of cocaine for China and 500 g for Italy, uncovered by the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations.
In related operations, NDLEA officers arrested a 38‑year‑old drug dealer, Ugo Gift Okonkwo, in Rivers State with cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, Swinol, tramadol and codeine syrup. A stop‑and‑search in Onitsha stopped a truck carrying 26,000 bottles (3,960 kg) of codeine syrup, leading to the driver Chinedu Nwanze’s arrest. Additional seizures included 331.84 kg of skunk from a bus in Delta State, 68 kg of skunk and 29 g of methamphetamine in Nasarawa State, and 7,400 tramadol pills on the Zaria‑Gusau highway in Zamfara. The agency continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) outreach in schools and communities nationwide.
