Nigeria's NDLEA Seeks State Support and Busts Drug Hotspots in Enugu, Ebonyi and Kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria is intensifying its fight against drug trafficking. In Enugu and Ebonyi states, Zonal Commander Owoputi Adekunle appealed to Governors Peter Mbah and Francis Nwifuru for logistical assistance, especially operational vehicles, and urged greater collaboration with traditional institutions and community groups. He highlighted that many of the agency’s vehicles are inadequate, hampering surveillance and arrests, and pledged to expand school‑based sensitisation and public enlightenment campaigns.

In Kano, the NDLEA’s Strategic Command, led by State Commander Dahiru Yahaya‑Lawal, raided six identified drug hotspots—Farm Centre, Kofar Nasarawa, Diga Nasarawa, Dakata (Zango), Filin Polo and Hausawa—arresting 15 suspects and seizing cannabis sativa, pentazocine injections, pregabalin and Exol‑5 tablets. The operation was described as intelligence‑led, with officials calling for continued community support and information to dismantle further networks.
