Nigeria's NDLEA Seizes Over 1.6 Million Tramadol Pills and Arrests Drug Warehouse Couple

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted two trailers carrying a total of 1.63 million tramadol 250 mg pills destined for Kano State. The first consignment of 853,000 pills was seized on July 2 along the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway, and a second of 777,000 pills on July 4 on the same route; both drivers, 22‑year‑old Jabir Kabiru and Muhammed Nuhu, were arrested. Earlier, on June 21, NDLEA recovered 558,900 tramadol pills from another truck on the same corridor. In parallel, the agency seized 4.7 kg of Canadian Loud cannabis at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, linking the shipments to cargo agents and a Lagos‑based businesswoman.

In Edo State, NDLEA officers raided a residential warehouse on Sapele Road in Benin City, arresting a husband and wife, Christian Chukwuka (32) and Nwanneka Christian (33). The operation recovered 22 bags of skunk weighing 219.5 kg and 192.67 kg of compressed Canadian Loud. “We arrested a husband and wife… at the illicit warehouse where they deal in narcotic drugs,” said Edo State NDLEA commander Mitchell Ofoyeju.
