Lagos Police seize truck of military uniforms and suspected drugs

The Lagos State Police Command intercepted a truck loaded with 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected illicit substances in an intelligence‑led operation in the Surulere/Lekki‑Epe corridor. Operatives from the Anti‑Kidnapping Unit and the State Tactical Squad arrested three to four suspects, aged between 29 and 45, after seizing the unregistered MAN diesel truck.

Police commissioner Fatai Tijani said preliminary investigations indicate the consignment was being moved from Lagos toward the South‑East region and that there is no immediate security threat to Lagos residents. The Uniforms could be used by criminal groups, a concern echoed by authorities.

In the same briefing the commissioner also announced the arrest of foreign nationals – including 14 Chadians and others from Burkina Faso, Benin, Mali, Togo, Cameroon and Guinea – in a separate operation. The police continue to investigate the source, intended destination and possible links of the uniforms and drugs to wider criminal networks.
