Nigeria's NIMC partners with NIPOST and Justice Ministry to boost digital identity and anti‑corruption
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) announced a formal partnership with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to integrate the country’s identity and address systems under the new NIMC Act. Director‑General Abisoye Coker‑Odusote said the collaboration will improve governance, service delivery and economic participation by linking the National Identification Number with a national postcode system, positioning NIMC as the custodian of Nigeria’s digital public infrastructure and root certification authority.
In a separate meeting, Attorney‑General Lateef Fagbemi affirmed that the newly signed NIMC law will strengthen anti‑corruption efforts, support banking, e‑government services and national security, and underpin a secure digital economy. Both officials pledged tighter cooperation to implement the legislation, raise public awareness and ensure the identity database becomes a foundation for transparency and accountability across Nigeria.
