Nigeria's NIMC Receives First-Ever Service Scheme Approval

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has approved the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) inaugural Scheme of Service, a milestone aimed at strengthening the agency’s operational efficiency and career development. The scheme defines staff cadres, promotion pathways, organisational structure, job functions, qualification requirements and professional standards, and aligns with Public Service Rules and international best practices.

The new framework introduces Enrolment, Card and Commercial career cadres alongside existing structures. The approval reflects the reform drive led by NIMC Director General/CEO Abisoye Coker‑Odusote, whose five‑point agenda is tied to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. At the presentation ceremony, Deputy Director Imirhe Gabriel Nwagolo praised NIMC’s commitment to institutional excellence, while Rhoda Jackden, Head of Human Capital Management at NIMC, praised the decision as “a laudable and significant milestone” and pledged full implementation of the scheme.
