Nigeria's NIPSS attacked, three security staff killed

In the early hours of 16 June 2026, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State, Nigeria, was attacked. The Plateau State Police Command confirmed that three security operatives on duty at the institute were killed.

Police reinforced the area, deploying additional personnel and intensifying patrols under Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah. Officials said the situation was under control and normal activities had resumed, while an investigation remains ongoing.

Following the incident, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Abbas Tajudeen called for fresh legislative ideas to address Nigeria’s security challenges, linking the attack to broader efforts to reform the military and security framework.
