Nigeria's PDP denounces Fayose's Oyo kidnapping claim and warns Ekiti governor vulnerable in 2026 election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria publicly condemned former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose after he alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had orchestrated a recent kidnapping to embarrass President Bola Tinubu. PDP South‑West publicity secretary Sanya Atofarati described the allegation as reckless, politically dangerous and an attempt to weaponise insecurity for partisan gain.

Separately, PDP governorship candidate Oluwole Oluyede asserted that incumbent Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji would lose the 2026 governorship election even if he faced no challenger, citing the incumbent’s poor performance and internal party divisions following a disputed primary. Oluyede framed the APC as a “torn‑apart” party and positioned the PDP as the only cohesive political force in the state.
