Nigeria's NUPRC and PENGASSAN target 3m bpd oil output by 2030

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) have pledged to collaborate to reach a production target of 3 million barrels of crude oil per day by 2030. PENGASSAN President Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro emphasized that while the union is committed to supporting the government's ambitions, workers' rights and issues regarding contract staffing remain priorities.

NUPRC Chief Executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan noted that production has already risen from 1.1 million barrels per day to an estimated 1.755 million barrels per day. She highlighted that industrial stability is essential to sustaining this growth and achieving the 2030 goal.

Separately, NUPRC officials are calling for the urgent completion of 'The Barrel,' the commission's proposed 10-storey headquarters in Abuja. Board Chairman Senator Magnus Abe stated that the current practice of operating from fragmented, smaller offices is an 'embarrassment' that negatively impacts Nigeria's investment appeal to major international oil and gas companies.
