Nigeria's Skills Training Surge Faces Employment Gap Concerns

Aptech Nigeria plans to graduate a new cohort of digital‑skills professionals at its 2026 National Convocation on August 8, 2026, at the Sheraton Lagos. The ceremony will recognise learners who completed training in areas such as software development, cybersecurity, multimedia, cloud computing and data analytics, and will include networking opportunities, alumni induction and a scholarship draw.

At the same time, analysts argue that Nigeria already hosts a large number of training programmes but unemployment remains high because the labour market lacks the ecosystem to convert skills into jobs. They contend that without employers seeking digital talent, newly trained workers remain underemployed, and that policy should focus on linking training outcomes to sustainable employment rather than merely counting certificates.
