Nigeria's Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake Leads Delegation to White House for US-Nigeria Critical Minerals Deal

Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, headed a Nigeria Solid Minerals Company (NSMC) delegation to the White House for high‑level talks with senior U.S. officials. The delegation met David Copley, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chain at the U.S. National Security Council, and Diana London of the DCI Group. Discussions focused on expanding U.S. investment across Nigeria’s critical‑minerals value chain – from geological exploration and mining to processing, refining and local value addition – and on building secure, resilient supply chains for minerals essential to the global energy transition.

The talks are part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks economic diversification, industrialisation, job creation and greater foreign investment in Nigeria’s solid‑minerals sector. Both sides said the engagement aims to deepen the strategic partnership between the United States and Nigeria and to promote sustainable mineral development and shared prosperity.
