Nigeria's Tambuwal calls for security priority over politics, warns of APC pressure

Former Sokoto State governor and senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to shift the federal government's focus from electioneering to addressing the country's escalating insecurity. Speaking during a sympathy visit to Bodinga Local Government Area, he highlighted recent bandit attacks, pledged N10 million each to families displaced in Bodinga and Tureta, and called for stronger security measures, including support for state police.

Tambuwal also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of intimidation tactics against politicians considering defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He urged courageous lawmakers to join the ADC, describing it as a genuine alternative for those committed to serving the people rather than personal gain. The senator said the APC now views the ADC as its biggest political challenge.
