Nigeria: Tinubu renews media heads' tenures and flags off road projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the tenures of Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and Ali Mohammed Ali, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), for an additional three years. Their new terms are set to begin on October 20, 2026.

In infrastructure developments, President Tinubu has flagged off the reconstruction and dualisation of the 58-kilometre Ibadan–Ijebu-Ode Road, a project valued at N295.9 billion. He also approved the reconstruction of the Abeokuta–Ibadan Road to improve economic corridors in the South-West. Additionally, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf commended the federal government for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Kafin Chiri Dam, which is expected to boost irrigation and agricultural production.

In other news, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, celebrated his 70th birthday, receiving tributes from President Tinubu and other leaders for his role in peacebuilding. Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has begun a phased rehabilitation of 19 regional water schemes to address long-term deterioration.
