Nigeria's Vice President commissions Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commissioned the Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State. The 400-bed facility is designed to improve healthcare delivery and reduce medical tourism by providing advanced diagnostic and specialist care to residents of Borno and the surrounding Lake Chad region.

The hospital includes 13 specialist departments, such as surgery, pediatrics, and internal medicine, and is equipped with modern technology including a 1.5-tesla MRI scanner and a 160-slice CT scanner. The complex also features a medical college, student hostels, an oxygen plant, and 200 staff housing units.

In addition to the medical facility, the Vice President commissioned several educational projects, including the Yerwa Practice Mega Primary School and the Kashim Shettima Academy. These initiatives aim to support the education of orphans and vulnerable children through the Kashim Shettima Free Education Programme.
