Night of the Arts festival brings cultural events to Helsinki and Kouvola
The Night of the Arts (Taiteiden yö) festival is driving cultural engagement and economic interest in Finnish cities. In Helsinki, the event features over 300 activities, many of which are free. Highlights include a street performance by the French theater group Compagnie Off involving giant giraffes parading from Esplanadi to Senate Square, and the Lyhärien Yö film event at Teurastamo, which showcases Finnish short films and hosts discussions with filmmakers.
In Kouvola, the festival has drawn thousands of people to the city center. Local business owners note that the event's success is bolstered by grants from the Kymi Ltd 100-year Foundation and the City of Kouvola. There are calls from local entrepreneurs for increased participation from businesses and minor increases in municipal support to further revitalize the city center through more frequent events.
