Nike announces Kobe 8 Protro release and Kobe 9 discounts

Nike is scheduled to release the Kobe 8 Protro ‘Mambacurial’ on September 19, 2026. Originally introduced in 2013 as a tribute to Kobe Bryant’s interest in football, the design is inspired by the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX boot. The upcoming Protro version features a gradient engineered mesh upper in Red Plum, Pink Flash, and Electric Green, alongside signature football-inspired details such as an oversized forefoot Swoosh and a translucent neon green outsole.

Additionally, the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro is seeing significant price reductions online. As the model nears the end of its production cycle, three colorways—‘Hornets,’ ‘WNBA,’ and ‘Light Silver Stream’—are currently marked down by 39% on Nike’s website. The discounted price brings the retail cost from $190 down to approximately $115.
