Nike unveils 3D-printed Air Max Mule designed by Masyn

Nike has revealed the Air Works Masyn Air Max Mule, a unique 3D-printed footwear design created by Los Angeles-based designer Masyn. Developed in collaboration with Nike mentors and utilizing Zellerfeld’s 3D printing technology, the shoe was unveiled at a private event in West Hollywood.

The mule silhouette was chosen to blur traditional gender lines, offering a design intended for all users. The aesthetic features a constellation of stars running from the upper to the outsole, including a large embossed star on the bottom that leaves star-shaped prints when walking. Masyn stated the design was inspired by personal connections, such as friends and family, rather than celebrities.

The project is part of Nike Sportswear’s inaugural Air Works program. This initiative invites a global cohort of eight designers to Nike’s Philip H. Knight Campus in Beaverton, Oregon, to explore new Air Max expressions through 3D printing. This specific model will not be produced for retail, and no release date or price has been announced.
