Nike AirWorks 3D-printing footwear initiative
Overview
Nike has launched the AirWorks program, an additive manufacturing initiative that invites designers to experiment with 3D-printing technology to create new Air Max expressions.
In September 2026, the program introduced the Air Max Link, a model developed by Beijing-based designer Marc Su. The design utilizes high-precision 3D printing to integrate curved synthetic components and dual air units, featuring retro-futuristic elements.
By October 2026, Nike revealed the Air Works Masyn Air Max Mule, a design by Los Angeles-based designer Masyn. Created using Zellerfeld’s 3D printing technology, the gender-neutral mule features a star-themed aesthetic. This project is part of a broader effort involving eight global designers hosted at Nike’s Philip H. Knight Campus in Beaverton, Oregon. Both the Air Max Link and the Masyn Air Max Mule are intended as limited or non-retail releases.
